The night shift consisted of 3 officers and a supervisor. They were ambushed in the parking lot as they got in their cruisers. For the rest of the night and into the early morning, the now unarmed officers, some with scratches and bruises from the initial struggle, were ordered to round up certain young men from the town, arrest them on phony outstanding warrants. The citizens were so upset over the arrest of their loved ones, they didn't notice the police officers were unarmed and somewhat disheveled. Nor did they see that, after the arrests, the men were loaded into a white van that was definitely not police property. When the morning shift arrived at the police station, there was no sign of any police officers or any arrestees. The whole department had been picked clean of all weapons and uniforms, including everything from the officers' lockers.
